“Advertising might not be rocket science. But sometimes, it’s neuroscience.”
Turning technology into a tool for happiness.
Life is Good likes to think of themselves as more than an apparel company: in fact their entire organization is rooted in the belief thatoptimism is a powerful and pragmatic ingredientfor living a fulfilled life.
Since its inception 24 years ago, Life is Good has donated at least 10% of its annual net profits to the Life is Good Kids Foundation to positively impact over 1 million kids facing poverty, violence, and illness each year.
HOW MIGHT WEhelp a successful American lifestyle brand expand into the Canadian market where awareness was low and marketing budgets even lower?
We transformed Life is Good’s power of optimism message into something tangible. Inspired by the “glass is half full” metaphor, The Garden created the Power of Optimism machine to invite Canadians, new to the brand, to experience the power of positive thinking in action.
Connected to a person’s brainwaves through special headgear equipped with electroencephalography (EEG) technology, we were able to demonstrate that positive thoughts (inspired by rotating Life is Good t-shirt imagery and messages) have the power to trigger complex physical functions – in this case filling a glass half full of water with the power of optimism.
Launched in an inspiring pop-up retail environment filled with Life is Good merchandise, the Power of Optimism machine has become a portable interactive experience ready to hit the road at any time on a mission to spread optimism.
